Kaleido wins at the Transform Awards Europe 2017!

ViCentra is delighted to announce that Kaleido – our hotly-anticipated new insulin delivery system – was awarded Bronze in the category ‘Best visual identity from the healthcare and pharmaceutical sector’ at last week’s eighth annual Transform Awards Europe.

Established in 2009, the Transform Awards recognise excellence in brand development, rebranding and the journey’s brands make, and are seen as one of the world’s most prestigious branding events. Now covering Europe, Asia-Pacific, the Middle East and North America, they have evolved into a celebration of the indispensable talent that exists within the branding sphere.

Judged this year by a panel of leading industry experts, the awards recognised Kaleido for its outstanding creative ability, strategic thought and development of a captivating brand that aims to help people with diabetes live life on their own terms.

“We’re already incredibly proud of Kaleido, but I’m delighted that we’re now officially award-winning too”, said Amy Oakes, Head of Creative Engagement at ViCentra. “We’ve worked hard to create a brand that works for people who live with Type 1 diabetes – listening to and collaborating with them to shake things up in the diabetes industry and create a brand experience that’s intentionally non-medical, personal and simple – just like our products. Kaleido is about far more than stunning visuals, it’s about how we make people feel, allowing those who use Kaleido to take control and make the choices that are right for them, bringing personality to a therapy that has previously been overcomplicated, time-consuming and uninspiring.”

The award also recognises ViCentra’s close collaboration with London-based design agency, Nalla. Working with the ViCentra team, Nalla has created Kaleido’s strategic brand positioning, naming and visual identities, and translated the brand identity across product, packaging and marketing collateral.

“I’m thrilled that Nalla have been recognised for their work on Kaleido, on what was a hugely successful night for them”, Amy Oakes went on to say. “From the outset, we’ve felt as though our knowledge and desire to change the diabetes industry has informed their thinking, but also that their creativity and design instincts have in turn hugely shaped our approach too, something I think is very much reflected in the Kaleido brand”.

Reflecting on the win, Vicki Young, Director and Founder of Nalla, said: “We are so proud to be recognised for our achievement. This would have not been possible without the aligned vision of ViCentra and Nalla along with the incredible collaborative relationship that was formed during the project. A relationship that we’re pleased to see grow the more we work together.”

Jonny Davidson, Senior Designer at Nalla, said: “It’s so refreshing to work on a truly innovative product and forward-thinking company. They shared our passion for challenging the status quo and believed in our philosophy that brand is more than just a logo or set of colours – it’s an experience that comprises every brand interaction with the user. With it still being early days, we’re thrilled with the response and recognition that Kaleido has received so far.”

The 2017 Transform Awards Europe celebrated entries from countries across Europe, including the Netherlands, UK, Sweden, France, Poland and beyond. With fierce competition, the caliber of entries this year broke all previous awards records, with a 35% increase in both the companies entering and the actual number of entries.

The awards ceremony, hosted by comedian and actor Russell Kane, was held at the Brewery, in Moorgate, London.
